Call for scientific abstracts

The call for abstracts (oral and poster presentation) is open until June 12:  

All abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee. Instructions for oral/poster presentations will be sent to the presenting authors in July 2024. If you have any questions please contact info@congresscare.com

If the abstract has been accepted, the information will also be used for promotion in our website, congress app and printed matters.

Theme

The theme of the congress is ‘Societal changes: opportunities for rehabilitation medicine’.

Important dates

  • June 12, 2024: deadline submission of abstracts
  • July 2024: information about acceptance or rejection of the abstract

General procedure

  1. The deadline for abstract submission is June 12, 2024. Abstracts must be submitted through the online submission form. Abstracts must be in English.
  2. After submission you will receive a confirmation of your submission at your own email address, if you do not receive this confirmation please contact info@congresscare.com.
  3. All abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee.
  4. Based on the outcome of the peer-review process an abstract can be rejected or accepted;
  5. For scientific and innovation abstracts an additional selection will be made for either an oral presentation or a poster presentation. The review committee will also take into account program coherence, topics and diagnosis groups.
  6. After the review process authors of accepted abstracts will be informed if their abstract is accepted for an oral or poster presentation.
  7. The scientific committee will not correspond about the contents or outcomes of the peer review process. 
  8. Instructions for oral/ poster presentations will be sent to the presenting authors before the end of August 2024.
  9. Please note, presenters of poster and free paper presentations are required to register. 
  10. During the congress a delegation of the scientific committee awards the Best scientific poster prize and the Best scientific free paper prize. The awarding of these prizes are based on the abovementioned criteria and the quality of respectively the poster presentation and oral presentation. These prices are for ‘early career’ participants only.

Abstract Format

The abstract must be in English and may contain up to 250 words (excluding title and affiliations). You can choose one of the following formats for your abstracts:

Scientific abstracts

The abstract format clinical/experimental research should contain:

  • Title abstract
  • Authors: initials + surname + title *
  • Name(s) institution(s) where (co-)authors are working
  • Introduction
  • Objective
  • Patients
  • Added value for patients
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Discussion and conclusions
  • Clinical message

The abstract format review/meta-analysis should contain:

  • Title abstract
  • Authors: initials + surname + title*
  • Name(s) institution(s) where (co-)authors are working
  • Objective
  • Added value for patients
  • Search strategy
  • Selection of articles
  • Optional: (Evaluation of articles and results)
  • Conclusion

Assessment criteria

Scientific abstracts will be independently peer-reviewed by scoring the following criteria (1-5; poor – excellent):

  1. Scientific quality
  2. Quality of the content of the abstract
  3. Clinical relevance           
  4. Innovation

Trial protocol abstracts

Trial protocol abstracts should contain:

  • Title abstract
  • Authors: initials + surname + title*
  • Name(s) institution(s) where (co-)authors are working
  • Medical ethical committee that approved the protocol and registration number in clinicaltrials.gov/Dutch trial register/ EU Clinical Trial Register
  • Introduction
  • Research question
  • Trial design/ patients and methods
  • Added value for patients
  • Expected contribution to research and clinical practice

and will be assessed on:

  1. Scientific quality
  2. Quality of the content of the abstract
  3. Clinical relevance
  4. Innovation

Innovation abstracts

The abstract format Innovation project should contain:

  • Title abstract
  • Authors: initials + surname + title*
  • Name(s) institution(s) where (co-)authors are working
  • Topic: What specific rehabilitation innovation issue are you focusing on?
  • Relevance: Who and why precisely will this interest the rehabilitation medicine community? What is the added value for patients?
  • Current status: What have you done and what are results?
  • Plan of action: What are (future) plans, with focus on further development and implementation

Innovation abstract will be assessed on:

  1. Clinical relevance
  2. Quality of the content of the abstract   
  3. Innovation

* Innovation is the development and application of new ideas and modernisation in practice. This will be seen in the form of products (medication medical technology), services (treatment methods), models (financing and corporation) or social change (culture). Modernisation will be everywhere, both within and beyond specialised medical care.
